GearGrind (Pty) Ltd was founded in South Africa in 2024. Our mission is to give every South African — from a private individual selling one car to a dealership with hundreds of vehicles — a powerful, affordable platform to buy, sell and manage vehicles.
Unlike traditional South African automotive classifieds platforms, GearGrind charges zero commission on any sale. A private seller pays R650 to list their vehicle. When it sells, they keep every rand. Buyers contact sellers directly via WhatsApp or phone — there is no third party in the middle.
The GearGrind marketplace allows South Africans to buy and sell cars, bakkies, trucks, motorcycles and boats across all 9 provinces. Listings include photos, full specifications, pricing and a direct WhatsApp enquiry button. The seller receives leads directly on their phone.
GearGrind includes a complete fleet management system for businesses that operate vehicles. Features include driver assignment, trip logging, fuel tracking, maintenance records, pre-trip inspections, SARS-compliant digital logbooks and total cost of ownership (TCO) reporting.
GearGrind runs live vehicle auctions where sellers list lots and registered buyers bid in real time. Sellers set a reserve price. GearGrind handles registration, deposits and buyer notifications.
Every GearGrind account includes access to a built-in bookkeeping module with quotes, invoices, payment tracking, expense management, bank reconciliation and VAT reports.
GearGrind offers 127-point digital vehicle inspections with photo evidence, an A–F condition grade and a shareable PDF report. Inspection reports can be linked directly to a vehicle listing.
GearGrind sells automotive skills courses at R650 per course with a certificate issued on completion. Course topics include vehicle sales, fleet management, vehicle inspection and more.
GearGrind has a built-in affiliate programme. Users earn 10% recurring commission on every payment made by people they refer. Minimum payout is R150, paid by EFT.
